The Dog's Bollox
Greasby Antitheatre saw yet another
stupendous evening of quality live
music which had Otis Vaters, Tarquin Fartquhar, and Bad Boy Keefy,
collectively known as Nod and the Dogs, on top form.
The band were joined for the evening by the legend that is Ned K on lead
guitar, and in a mark of respect for the new line up, Nod and the Dogs
renamed themselves "The Dogs Bollox" for the night. Bad Boy Keefy was
ecstatic at being joined by his old mucker from the days when he bashed a massif kit and played his socks off the whole evening with a broad grin (or
was it a gurn?) on his face.
Warming up with some classic rock and blues covers, including a superb
rendition of Purple Haze, the band soon got into a comfortable groove and headed into supercharged turbo rock
'n' roll territory, much to the
delight of their adoring fans.

The highlight of the evening had to be the first outing of "Whole Lotta
Rosie" by the Dogs. Despite Otis Vaters seeming to struggle on the lead
vocal (at one point he could be seen holding his nether regions in
frustration at his lack of range), Ned K pulled something magical out of
the air and played his Musicman guitar almost to breaking point.
Skillfully crafting a solo out of nothing, the guitar guru built up the
musical tension with unheard before wails and screams emanating from the
strings. Toward the end of the song Ned K was playing at breakneck speed
and it seemed his guitar wouldn't take the strain, but then came the
frantic climax - when unbelievably, he upped the ante and played even
faster! The stunned audience were left dazed and confused but screaming for
more more more!
